Thymosin Alpha-1 10mg
Tα1 · Thymalfasin · 28-Amino-Acid Immunomodulatory Peptide · Lyophilized Powder · Purity ≥98% (HPLC)
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1, also known as thymalfasin) is a naturally occurring, heat-stable, highly acidic peptide of 28 amino acids, originally isolated from thymosin fraction 5 of thymus tissue. It is cleaved from the precursor protein prothymosin alpha and has long been recognized for modifying, enhancing and restoring immune function.
Our synthetic Tα1 carries an N-terminal acetyl group and is identical in sequence to human thymosin alpha-1. Each vial is supplied as a sterile lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder to ensure maximum stability.

The thymus gland produces a family of hormones and peptides that orchestrate the development and function of T lymphocytes. Among them, Thymosin Alpha-1 — first isolated and sequenced by Goldstein and colleagues in 1977 — is one of the best characterized and most extensively studied thymic peptides, with a literature spanning several decades.
Unlike crude thymus extracts, Tα1 is a chemically defined single molecule: a 28-amino-acid acetylated polypeptide whose sequence is identical to the human form. This precise structure makes it a highly reproducible research compound.
In published research, Tα1 has been investigated in a wide range of settings, including:
- Immune dysfunction, immunodeficiency and immune-aging (immunosenescence) research;
- Chronic viral infection models (notably hepatitis B and C studies);
- Oncology research, frequently studied as an immune-modulating adjunct alongside chemotherapy;
- Vaccine response studies, where Tα1 has been explored as an immune response modifier.
Tα1 is approved as an immunomodulatory drug in multiple countries (marketed as Zadaxin® / thymalfasin), which has made it one of the most clinically documented peptides in the thymic peptide family and a reference compound in immunology research.
Mechanism of Action
Handling & Storage Guidelines
- Lyophilized powder: Store at -20°C for long-term stability; 2–8°C is acceptable for short-term storage. Avoid repeated temperature cycling and protect from light.
- Before opening: Allow the vial to reach room temperature and briefly centrifuge to ensure the full contents collect at the bottom of the vial.
- Reconstitution: Add bacteriostatic water or an appropriate solvent gently along the vial wall. Swirl slowly until fully dissolved; avoid vigorous shaking.
- Reconstituted solution: Store at 2–8°C and use within the validated stability window; do not refreeze the solution.
- General: Handle with standard laboratory protective equipment (gloves, lab coat, eye protection).

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the difference between Thymosin Alpha-1 and TB-500?
A: Although both are named after thymosins, they are different molecules with different research profiles. Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid immunomodulatory peptide derived from prothymosin alpha, studied mainly in immunity research. TB-500 is a fragment of thymosin beta-4, studied mainly in tissue repair and cell migration research.
Q2: What is the difference between Tα1 and Thymalin?
A: Tα1 is a chemically defined single 28-amino-acid peptide. Thymalin is a thymus-derived peptide complex (a bioregulator containing multiple short peptides). They are related thymic preparations but are not the same product.
Q3: How should I store it after receiving?
A: Keep unopened vials at -20°C for long-term storage. Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2–8°C and use promptly; do not refreeze the solution.
Q4: Is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available?
A: Yes, third-party tested COA documentation can be provided for each batch. Please contact our customer service with your order number.
